At a time when Bollywood faces its worst years for storytelling and/or box office collection, there’s only one formula that they are tapping back to from the 80s and 90s to make themselves relevant again. That’s right, Pakistan.
We’ve seen it over the years, where just about everyone from Amitabh Bachchan to Sunny Deol has tried to ‘rescue’ or ‘defend’ their motherland against Pakistan, and oh boy, that era is back again.
This time it’s Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone who have jumped on the bandwagon, and we’ve gotten another dumpster fire of a movie ready to stuff insane propaganda to a huge population in the name of ‘entertainment.’
But, luckily the world and many sane-minded people across the globe have gotten over India and Bollywood’s blatant obsession with war-mongering and calling it out. Pakistanis too, seem to have had enough with the Top Gun wannabes seen in the trailer. or at least X (formerly Twitter) is proving that.
What did people have to say? Let’s explore…
Some people called it’s ludicrous representation out.
Indian propaganda machine is something else because this isn’t some obscure event from the 50s.
It happened 4 years ago and resulted in one Indian Jet shot down by Pakistan and one Indian helicopter shot down by India itself. What is the point of this movie? https://t.co/RLOznnRmiP

And it’s downright badly-executed screen play…
This is so bad even for a propaganda film 😭
Dialogues kisi Twitter pe active Bhakt se likhwaye hain lagta hai 😂 https://t.co/uNLjBb8UC9— Ali (@Bhuut_) January 15, 2024
While others were helplessly laughing at its misconstrued narrative
pakistan occupied kashmir, don’t make me laugh. bollywood has made a mockery of the devastation in indian occupied kashmir. https://t.co/5ycQXZRSRT

But, it wasn’t just tweeps who were laughing at the absurdity of it all. Pakistani makeup guru and granddaughter of Noor Jehan, Natasha Ali Lakhani, took to Instagram to remind people how propaganda is changing the once-celebrated ‘tolerance’ of India.
She wasn’t alone in calling this hypocrisy out. Zara Noor Abbas also took to her instagram to talk about the trailer.
Amidst a time when jingoism seems to be Bollywood’s favourite game, it has also caused many to implore India to see the reality.
Dear Indians we shot down your fighter aircraft & captured your Wing Commander Abhinandan. Kindly stop lying abt his release. Why don't you attack know we have captured your Kalbhushan yadav & he is still with us & remain untill hanged.

The most hilarious thing that remains is that, one can’t help but think that this even looks like a copy of Pakistani film, Parwaaz Hai Junoon!
I forgot to tweet: #Fighter is such a rip of the best of #ParwaazHaiJunoon and #TopGunMaverick while also showing. PM.who is as lunatic as Modi could be, and showing such an insecure India: they forgot we downed their plane, not the other way around.
We also returned their pilot— Unberryin Heather (@ambreenhaider01) January 16, 2024
In the end, this poster said it all…
