Skin being the largest organ of your body definitely deserves all that extra TLC. Here’s what celebrity cosmetologist and nutritionist, Kyra Chaudhry, thinks are the biggest mistakes you’re making when it comes to your skincare.
Following the trends to a T
All treatments are not for everyone. The biggest mistake girls are making is getting treatments done just because they’re “trending”. This is bringing to me girls with patchy, pigmented and discoloured skin all the time . Girls need to stay minimal and not follow trends at the cost of their faces .
Over-exfoliation
Our skin does not need to be sand blasted every day. Skin is a delicate organ and scrubs and rubs every day will only make it loose, saggy and age before time. Exfoliating once a week is enough.
Exposing skin to too much makeup
All skin needs to breathe and if it is covered under layers of makeup all the time, it is bound to break out and get irritated. Remember, less is more when it comes to makeup.
Poor Hydration.
Our body is 70% water, skin thrives on hydration inside out. Girls today would gulp down all kinds of sugary and caffeinated drinks which basically break down the collagen and elastin in the skin. Poor water intake and lack of a good moisturizer is a disastrous combination for the skin’s wellbeing. And yes, all skin types need a moisturizer.
Ignoring the basics
While we have all kinds of fancy treatments out there, NOTHING in the world will benefit skin like a good workout session, healthy sleep patterns , and a great sunblock .
Consistency
The goal of skincare should be long term and not short term benefits. Be consistent with your skincare routine and be patient if you don’t see results instantly.
