Our celebrities seem to be taking one step forward and two steps back when it comes to making politically correct statements, and this year proved it more than ever before. One after another, each month unearths a new video or a new statement where the celebs cannot help but say something viral.
From admitting wanting to hug a co-actor more than once in a false pretence of acting to going to protests meant for solidarity and taking all the spotlight, there’s been many moments one cannot help but deem as foot-in-the-mouth moments.
But, which ones kept our jaws dropped and our heads shaking? Diva has the lowdown…
Iffat Omar – The Rahat Kazmi Chronicles
Iffat Omar has not only gained massive popularity with her talk show Say It All, but also a serious term for notoriety as well. Her show has lead to some weird confessions in the past but nothing caught our attention more than Iffat revealing that she’d intentionally do re-takes of her hugging Rahat Kazmi while shooting because she wanted to keep hugging him. What made it weirder was her telling everyone that he played Iffat’s father’s role. Yikes!
Noman Ijaz – Sir Cheats-a-Lot
#NomanIjaz said he is such a 'great artist' and 'intelligent man' that he doesn't let his wife find out about any of his #extramarital affairs. pic.twitter.com/eNH8EhRDAH
— WE Blog (@WEblogspot) September 8, 2020
Noman Ijaz in the last few years has turned into a bastion of ill-timed and inappropriate comments, and of course, this year was going to be no different. He started off 2020 with making comments about bloggers and then it turned into a whole different level, when he talked about cheating on his wife on a show with – yep you guessed it, Iffat Omar. I am such an intelligent man and actor that my wife never finds out. The husbands of the women don’t find out either,” he said.
Yasir Hussain – Ertugrul Who?
The one-sided feud between Yasir Hussain and everything related to the cast of Diliris Ertugrul has been going on for months now, and each week the former has something new to add. In the last few weeks, things took for the worse when Yasir – who has now claimed he didn’t mean what it was interpreted as – wrote “Kyunke ghar ki murgi daal barabar or bahar ka kachra bhi maal barabar” on his story. Now, whether he actually said it for them or not, it’s quite a foot-in-the-mouth!
Celebrities at Protest Against Rape – The Hoo-Haa
I really want to believe their hearts are in the right place, but wtf? This is cringe-worthy. And can someone explain why the celebrities felt the need to have their own protest against #motorwayincident vs getting more support for the first one? pic.twitter.com/Ezjwpu2opU

The Lahore rape incident shook the nation, and rightly so, the celebrities took notice of it as well. However, the way they came out to protest it, left a bitter taste in everyone’s mouth. Names like Mahira Khan, Ayesha Omar, Sarwat Gilani, and Frieha Altaf amongst others were seen at the protest, but it turned out to be a mess when it was reported that their presence took the attention away from others who were protesting for hours. Things turned even more sour when a video surfaced of Sarwat and Frieha making their way to the protest – and well, it was awkward to say the least!
Mawra Hocane – When in Lahore?
Just when you think Mawra Hocane is going to rock the year just with her acting skills, she ends up saying something controversial enough to make it to the news. This time, it was her inadvertent and rather uninformed view point when she was asked if she got cat-called in Lahore on a morning show. She responded by calling it the ‘fun’ of Lahore. Oh boy, let’s just say, no one appreciated that. p.s. here’s Ali Gul Pir re-enacting it for us all!
