With approximately a month passing since three major Pakistani films released on Eid-Ul-Azha – Parey Hut Love, Superstar, and Heer Maan Ja – the official numbers for all indicate vast collections this year as well as setting new records for 2019.
According to numbers announced by independent box office website, Entertainment Pakistan, however, no film has done better business than the Sheheryar Munawar and Maya Ali starrer, Parey Hut Love, which has ended up being the highest grosser of the year.
If numbers are to believed, the film has raked a whopping PKR 20.2 Crore in its month’s run, which is a considerable number for Pakistani cinema. Adding onto this, the fact that there aren’t any major releases scheduled for any time soon, there’s a chance that the film will manage to garner even more significant numbers.
However, the numbers for the fourth week of the film’s release do indicate a relative decline in collections as it managed to collect approximately PKR 50 Lakhs in the quarter in comparison to the other weeks where it was minting money in Crores.
On the other hand, Mahira Khan and Bilal Ashraf’s Superstar has been doing significant business as well and has ended up collecting an approximate of PKR 18 Crore in its local run by the end of its first month. The film also has shown good potential on the international market and has a chance to rake in more by the end of its 5th and 6th week of collections.
The third Eid release, Heer Maan Ja, has also picked up massively in the last two weeks with its collections increasing substantially to PKR 16.5 Crores by the end of its month’s run. Additionally, the film has also seen a rise after the cast of the film has continued with the promotions even after the release, leading to more people booking the film in cinemas.
With all three films at a stable position, the current scenario indicates that the movie will enjoy a few more weeks of collections at the box office until new Hollywood or local releases come into play.
